URJ Camp and Israel Scholarships

We believe that Jewish summer camp and Israel immersive experiences are a unique and life-changing gift for the young people who participate. We understand, though, that this gift is quite expensive. That is why we are are pleased to offer scholarships for members of our congregation who are attending Union for Reform Judaism summer camps and/or Israel programs such as Yalla!Israel and URJ Heller High.

Scholarships are awarded from our Jonah Maccabee Fund. The fund is dedicated to the memory of Jonah Maccabee Dreskin, who loved his years at Jewish camp!

How Do I Apply?

URJ Camps

When you register for camp, you have an option to fill out a scholarship form. It will ask you about “Community Support/Synagogue Contribution Information.” You should put that you are a member of Woodlands Community Temple and list Rabbi Mara (rabbimara@wct.org) as your “Synagogue Contact.” This will generate an electronic formal request to WCT in the amount you specify. When it comes to the amount, please request the amount that would make it possible for you to send your child/children to camp. Please note that this form is usually due to the camps by January, so fill it out early!

Other scholarships to look into:

Make sure you take advantage of One Happy Camper: a need-blind grant of up to $1000 for first time campers through the Foundation for Jewish Camp.

Yalla!Israel and Heller High
