Refugee Resettlement/Immigrant Support

Having joined together with Bet Am Shalom to settle an Afghan family in the US, we are now joining together with 5 other congregations to settle another family. This time, we are working with Sinai Free Synagogue (Mt.Vernon), Bet Am Shalom (White Plains), Temple Beth Shalom (Hastings-on-Hudson), Congregation B'nai Yisrael (Armonk), and Shaarei Tikvah (Scarsdale).

As we did before, we will offer guidance as well as financial support in finding the family housing, employment, education, transportation, food, and clothing. The Westchester Resettlement Coalition (as our 6-congregation group is called) will work as one unified team in fundraising to financially support this family during their first year in Westchester County.

We were so pleased to welcome our first family, refugees from Ukraine. Our team has been busily helping them adjust to their new home and the feeling of safety. We look forward to the next family we can rescue.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work hands-on, to make new friends across the Hudson Valley and continue our tradition of welcoming the stranger. There are ample ways to get involved: you can volunteer for specific tasks, help with organizing and contribute financially. Perhaps you can contribute your own expertise from your “day job.” Please let us know if you or someone you know has a connection to any of the following: real estate brokers, landlords, real estate managers, CPAs, educators, tutors, ENL teachers, doctors, dentists, orthodontists, psychologists, social workers, retailers, store owners, handypersons, etc. These folks will be important resources sometime in the future as it relates to helping the folks we are tasked with assisting.

You are also welcome to make a donation to help with the immediate costs involved in settling the family by clicking HERE.
