Backpack Collection

Each summer, we collect backpacks and school supplies for the kindergarten/first graders of the Lois Bronz Children’s Center in Greenburgh.

Lois Bronze Children’s Center provides services/programs for infants, preschoolers, special education students, early childhood and after school for school age children. For the past 12 years, with our community’s help, they have attempted to send their kindergartners to school with new backpacks filled with school supplies. They have a large population of students that receive assistance and in this economic climate they have limited resources. New school supplies would help them ride the road to
educational success by providing them with the necessary tools for school, and help in building their self-esteem, while teaching them to have respect and pride for their belongings.

Thank you to all our congregants who filled backpacks for the kids at Lois Bronz Center this year and to those sent in checks to purchase supplies; thank you also to Pell Wealth Associates, that joined us in this mitzvah, filling and donating 48 backpacks;
and thank you to Rabbi Lisa Izes, who organizes this project for us each year.
