1619 Project Docuseries

A strange thing happened as a group of us at Woodlands Community Temple held our monthly book discussions of “The 1619 Project” last year. We began to notice that many of our comments were remarkably similar. How could we bring other voices into the conversation about the role of slavery in our national narrative?

We think we figured it out and invite you to join us in an innovative program our Social Action and Adult Education Committees developed with the Greenburgh Public Library, The Greenburgh Human Rights Advisory Committee, Bet Am Shalom Synagogue, and the White Plains/Greenburgh Chapter of the NAACP.

Starting on October 11 and continuing monthly for five months thereafter, we will meet to view an episode of the Hulu production of “The 1619 Project” and then engage in discussion with two facilitators, one Black-identifying and one white-identifying.

Because we anticipate wide interest in this series and because space is limited, registration is required. It is now open for the first session and will open for subsequent sessions the day following the prior one.
