Our Social Action committee is involved in numerous projects year ‘round. Here are some that you can be a part of:

Scrapping for New Orleans

Recycle-Reuse: aluminum, iron, stainless steel, lead, copper, brass, bronze   

To help raise money for our annual trip during the February break to help Katrina victims while also helping our environment by recycling, we are collecting the following:

  • Air conditioners
  • Car Batteries
  • Old tire rims
  • Old grill bits from broken barbeques
  • Old and broken appliances (with metals)
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Lawn mowers
  • Broken ladders
  • Metal doors
  • Old beer kegs
  • Old refrigerators
  • Heaters
  • Furnaces
  • And more…

Collection dates are: October 12, November 13, December 11, January 22. And don’t worry: if it’s too big, we’ll pick it up

Blood Drive

There is a shortage of blood in our area. Anyone between 17 and 75 who weighs at least 110 lbs can donate blood. Woodlands is having its next blood drive on Sunday November 6th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, just expect to wait.

Children’s Village

7th Grade Mitzvah Projects

 

BeadForLife Party

Join us on December 4, from 3 to 6 PM to help hardworking Ugandan women lift themselves out of poverty by purchasing handmade jewelry made from colorful recycled paper. All net profits from BeadForLife are invested in community development projects that help people work their way out of poverty. For more information: www.beadforlife.org
