Farewell to Rabbi Billy Shabbat
Fri, June 18, 8:00-10:00 pm
Pre-Service Discussion at 7:50 pm

A night of loving tribute for our soon-to-be Rabbi Emeritus. We have a whole lot of surprises in store for our beloved rabbi. Come welcome Shabbat and Rabbi Billy's next chapter with bittersweet beauty.

Celebrate Rabbi Billy's Retirement!

As far back as his rabbinical school days, Billy Dreskin had a dream: to serve one congregation for an entire generation. To stand under the chuppah with young people whose naming ceremonies he had officiated. To be with the same community through the cycle of life, from birth through death and all the joys and sorrows along the way.

Rabbi Billy achieved that, and we are all richer for it. Now we have the opportunity to celebrate a momentous event in his life — retirement.

There are many ways to celebrate Billy in the coming months. Covid may prevent us from all gathering together, so we’ve created multiple opportunities for congregants to wish Billy well as safely as possible. Take a look at the options here and make sure to mark your calendars for all of the dates and times!

RabBYE Billy Concert Celebration

Gather a group of friends in your backyard for a watch party to make it a true community celebration!

WCT Update (May 10, 2021)

Conditions in Westchester County have improved rapidly over the past several weeks. As a result, we are beginning to meet more in person - especially outdoors. B’nai Mitzvah services and Academy on the lawn have resumed, and small indoor gatherings will start to occur when the weather is bad.

At its April meeting, the board of trustees passed a motion intended to protect our clergy. The policy reads: Whereas Woodlands Community Temple requires masks to be worn at lifecycle events where Woodlands clergy are officiating, clergy are instructed to leave the event if attendees do not comply with the temple COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions for large gatherings. This policy shall apply to events on or off Woodlands' premises and applies regardless of vaccination status.

Masks will continue to be mandatory for the foreseeable future at both indoor and outdoor Woodlands gatherings, except when eating. Indoors, we will keep doors and windows open to improve ventilation. The heating and air conditioning system in the sanctuary has been fitted with MERV-13 filters.

Please remember to complete the screening form at on any day you or your children are coming to Woodlands.

The results of last month’s congregational survey will help us set priorities as we return to in-person activities. Overall, people were more comfortable with outdoor activities than indoor activities and were very supportive of requiring proof of vaccination or a negative test. The Coronavirus Task Force will use these results as we set policies around reopening.

As we return to in-person programming, we'll remain mindful some people still cannot join us. A newly formed production team is working on how to provide a high-quality visual experience for those watching online.

We look forward to seeing you on the lawn soon.
